"What can you say? We didn't hit well," said the Devil Rays skipper in his postgame comments.
"Hopefully we shake this off and bounce back tomorrow."
Reyes finished the game with 9 strikeouts and no walks in an excellent mound performance.
"He pitched real well," his manager said. "Anthony made pitches when he had to. He hit his spots and did a great job of mixing in his changeup and using his fastball effectively."
This season Reyes has compiled a 15-8 record with a 4.23 ERA in 29 starts. | | Sunday, August 13th, 2017: 5-Hits Blitz by Minnesota's Acevedo! It was a big day with the bat for Manuel Acevedo of the Minnesota Twins at Hubert H.Humphrey Metrodome as he bashed out hit after hit after hit to defeat Baltimore 11-6.
To the press after the ballgame he modestly said, "Guys, it's just one game in a long season. I hit it hard and found some holes today -- Bingo! -- 5 hits in 5 tries! But my hits are not the big thing in the game. The victory is the important thing. That's the story."
At the end of the game Acevedo had collected 5 hits in 5 at-bats and a small mention in the record book. He was happy. He had a big day with the bat. And the Twins had won.
The beat writers were happy, too. They had their big story -- they could write about his big day with the bat.
M. Acevedo singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, hit a two-run double in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off G. Ruberio in the 8th.
So far this season Acevedo is hitting .317 with 13 home runs. | | | Injuries | | Player | Injury | Out for... | Disabled List Status | | P John Burness | fractured finger | 6 days | Not on DL | | P B.
