Monday, October 23rd, 2017: Washington Nationals Win World Series
It was a storybook year for the Washington Nationals as they closed out a 4-1 series win over the Seattle Mariners to claim the 2017 World Series. They wrapped it up with a 7-3 victory to cap an incredible season and brought home their 1st championship.

The Nationals manager gave his view of the series, "We had a lot of things going for us, offense and defense doing it at the right time. That's what it takes win a World Series."

"We're disappointed we lost, but we're also very proud of what we did all year," said the Mariners manager. "They played better baseball than us and they beat us."

During the National League Eastern Division regular season Washington put up a 99-63 record and finished first.
Monday, October 2nd, 2017: AL Batting Title Belongs to Espinol
The American League season came to a close with Abera Espinol on top with a league-leading .380 batting average. The Seattle right fielder swung the bat well the entire season.

He concluded the year with 238 hits, 15 doubles, 2 triples and 12 home runs with 114 runs scored and 90 RBIs.
Saturday, September 23rd, 2017: Cruz Pitches Athletics to Shutout Win
Oakland starter Conrado Cruz really did a number on the Mariners today, shutting them out 3-0 on 6 hits in a complete game victory. He issued 2 walks and had 8 strikeouts.

In his postgame comments, the Seattle manager said, "We didn't have good at-bats. I don't make excuses, but when we were playing the game, our energy didn't show. That comes from either extremely good pitching or extremely lousy hitting... seeing as our team has a bunch of pretty good hitters, I have to tip my cap to Conrado... he did an outstanding job today."

Checking out his stats for the season, Cruz has racked up 10 wins and 13 losses in 31 starts, 4.88 ERA and struck out 213 batters in 203 innings.
