| Breaking News |  | Monday, October 23rd, 2017: Washington Nationals Win World Series It was a storybook year for the Washington Nationals as they closed out a 4-1 series win over the Seattle Mariners to claim the 2017 World Series. They wrapped it up with a 7-3 victory to cap an incredible season and brought home their 1st championship.
The Nationals manager gave his view of the series, "We had a lot of things going for us, offense and defense doing it at the right time. That's what it takes win a World Series."
"We're disappointed we lost, but we're also very proud of what we did all year," said the Mariners manager. "They played better baseball than us and they beat us."
