| Breaking News | | Saturday, September 30th, 2017: LaHair Belts Bunch of Base Hits Bryan LaHair put on a hitting clinic today as the Red Sox dumped the Blue Jays 15-8 at Fenway Park. The Boston first baseman sprayed hits all over the ballpark by lashing Toronto pitching for 5 hits in 5 at-bats in the game.
He told SION reporters after the game, that he just hit it where they pitched it. "Too often I try to pull the ball too much. Today I just went with the pitch."
B. LaHair hit a two-run double in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off A. Ferrel in the 6th, singled in the 8th and walked in the 9th.
This year LaHair is batting .282 with 10 home runs and 64 RBIs. | | Wednesday, September 27th, 2017: Orioles Triumph, Whitewash Boston Today at Camden Yards Jimmy Gaskins baffled Boston batters on 6 hits en route to a 2-0 shutout.
"He was able to keep hitters off balance and got the ball down," said the Orioles skipper about his starter's performance.
Gaskins had 6 strikeouts and 2 walks in the game.
This season Gaskins has fanned 179 in 229.2 innings and collected a 6-20 record with a 5.37 ERA. | | Friday, September 15th, 2017: New York (A) Helpless Against Sanmartin "That's one thing that has never changed in this game -- pitching can control hitting," the Red Sox manager told reporters after today's game.
The Yankees ran into a buzzsaw as Sammy Sanmartin cut them down to size 8-0 with a 3-hit shutout.
His skipper added, "He knows exactly what he's doing. He's not going to throw you a good pitch until you make him throw one."
In the complete game whitewash the Boston hurler doled out 3 walks and registered 12 strikeouts.
In the postgame press conference his catcher said, "Sammy goes out there and just goes about his business. I don't think he gets too concerned about what's going on. You can call any pitch and you know where he's going to be."
Sanmartin also got some praise from the New York (A) manager.
"He really kept us in check today. Everything looked to be moving. Seemed like the pitch was right down the middle and it went over down and away... we took some pathetic swings."
In 30 starts this year Sanmartin has fashioned a 11-10 record and a 4.17 ERA. | | | Injuries | | Player | Injury | Out for... | Disabled List Status | | CF Colby Rasmus | dislocated shoulder | 4-5 months | On DL, eligible for return (60-day DL) | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 90-72, .556 PCT | | Position in Division | 1st, - GB | | Record at home | 48-33, .593 PCT | | Record on the road | 42-39, .519 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 9-7, .563 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 19-19, .500 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 19-17, .528 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 71-55, .563 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 3-7, .300 PCT | | Record in April | 20-6, .769 PCT | | Record in May | 14-15, .483 PCT | | Record in June | 16-11, .593 PCT | | Record in July | 9-15, .375 PCT | | Record in August | 16-12, .571 PCT | | Record in September | 15-12, .556 PCT | | Record in October | 0-1, .000 PCT |
